Opening ceremony of Master of Financial Economics Programs 1st Intake

July 26th 2013, the Asia Pacific Institute of Management successfully held the opening ceremony for the 1st Intake of the Master of Financial Economics, which is a cooperative training program (1 year in Vietnam and 1 year in the United States).

At 8:30 am July 26th, the Asia Pacific Institute of Management, National Economics University –the governing body of the cooperative program- solemnly held the Opening Ceremony of the Master of Financial Economics Program in Room A, 2nd floor, Building 10, National Economics University.

Professor Tran Tho Dat, Vice President of National Economics University delivered a speech of congratulating admitted students

The guests who were attending the ceremony include Professor Tran Tho Dat – Vice President of National Economics University, deans of departments, managers and staff of Asia Pacific Institute of Management (APIM), the lecturers involved in teaching programs, and especially admitted students and their families. From Ohio University, Professor Roberts Sarikas and Professor Andrew Fodor participated in the ceremony. Giving a welcome speech at the event, Professor Tran Tho Dat reaffirmed that the Master of Finance and Economics Program is a high-quality joint program between Ohio University, USA and National Economics University Hanoi, Vietnam, which are both prestigious in the field of economics and management. The master's degree will be granted by Ohio University and is widely recognized in the world.

Professor Tran Tho Dat highly appreciated the initial achievement for the program in the first year of enrollment. On behalf of the Board of Management of NEU, he praised APIM, the governing body, for continuous effort to organize the program which is of high quality, prestigious and at the reasonable costs.

The representative from Ohio University, Professor Sarikas highly appreciated the prestige of National Economics University and expressed his belief that with the prestige of Ohio University (top 50 of business schools and top 15 Finance Department in the U.S.), the program will soon become a reliable address for Vietnamese students who want to pursue international financial careers. Professor Sarikas is also the first lecturer from Ohio University who teaches the first class for the program in Vietnam. He hopes to play an important role in promoting the cooperation of the universities to the next level.

On behalf of the new students of the program, Ms. DinhThanh Ha and Mr. Hoang Viet Huy have expressed their happiness and pride to become the first students of the Master of Financial Economics Program. They said that it were not only their opportunities to become students of a world- class university in the United States, but also the opportunities to study in English with modern teaching methods, and to have the opportunity to experience international environment in 1 year in the US. They promised to try their best to complete the required courses in Vietnam with the best results, so that this time next year (2014) all students of the 1st Intake will be able to participate in Ohio University to complete program on schedule.

Some information about the program: The 1+1 cooperative Master of Financial Economics was first assigned to National Economics University and Ohio University (USA) to implement according to the decision date at Jan 17th, 2013. The purpose of the program is to equip Vietnamese students with advanced knowledge and skills in financial service analysis. In addition, the program also is designed to assist students to achieve CFA certificate (Chartered Financial Analyst). The training program was carried out in English for 2 years, and divided into 4 semesters. The curriculum is under the standard of Ohio University, including 13 courses- 52 credits. The program is divided into 02 phases: Phase 1 in National Economics University, and Phase 2 in Ohio University. Students are provided adequate learning materials and facilities for all the classes
